KBDi Awards 2025: A Night of Recognition for Studio Minosa

Awards are never just about recognition — they’re a reflection of the countless hours, the relentless pursuit of excellence, and the collective belief that design has the power to improve the way we live. At this year’s KBDi Awards, we were humbled to see that belief honoured through three incredible wins:

KBDi Australian Certified Designer of the Year – Darren Genner

The judges commended our Vaucluse Alfresco project as “a masterclass in elegance, function, and architectural sensitivity.” Seamlessly connected to the harbour backdrop, the alfresco design was recognised not only for its beauty but for its meticulous documentation — “the gold standard of Certified Design.”

KBDi Outdoor Kitchen of the Year

Celebrated for its balance of practicality and elegance, this alfresco kitchen was noted for its seamless zoning, premium finishes, and social island-style layout — adaptable for everything from casual afternoons to dinner parties.

We love this project for so many reasons. The Vaucluse Alfresco feels like it has always belonged to the home—a seamless extension where life naturally unfolds. Dining, lounging, and entertaining move effortlessly from one zone to the next, with the pool as a quiet anchor at the heart of it all. The outdoor kitchen invites connection, whether it’s a slow morning coffee, a lively dinner, or a weekend game-day gathering. Every material, every line, every detail was chosen with care, celebrating craftsmanship while making the space feel alive, welcoming, and effortless for the people who live here.

KBDi Traditional or Themed Design of the Year

A project close to our hearts, this 1929 home was transformed with sensitivity and care. The judges admired its thoughtful reconfiguration, concealed work zones, and timeless detailing, praising the way heritage character and contemporary life were brought together in harmony.

But whilst the main award was given to a single name, the reality is that design at this level is never a solo pursuit.
