Mascot - Our New Home

April 2, 2026
A Space of Our Own
Nestled in the working suburb of Mascot in the Bayside Area, our new studio is a transformed 1940s bungalow on a corner site brimming with potential. We fell in love with the abundant natural light, the charming old cornices, and the high ceilings. While the interior is smaller than our previous space in Alexandria, we saw a genuine opportunity to create an intimate environment for our clients, an extremely functional space for our team, with exciting prospects for the future.
We’ve worked tirelessly to reach this moment. This isn’t just a new studio, it’s a space that embodies our design philosophy and the experience we want to create for everyone who steps through our doors.
Welcome to our new home in Mascot.
While we’ve officially moved in and begun our work, the evolution of this space is ongoing. There remains a list of details to refine, layers to build, and moments to resolve.
The Why
Our previous studio served us well, yet it gradually became misaligned with our evolving vision for work and client interactions.
We sought control:
• Control of light.
• Control of mood.
• Control of how a space unfolds.
We envisioned a place where materials are showcased in their true essence, lighting is intentional rather than incidental, and every design decision enhances both our workflow and our clients’ lives.
This wasn’t merely about acquiring more space; it was about finding the right space.
As with all our projects, we began by stripping everything back to understand the fundamentals:
• The structural bones.
• The proportions.
• The flow and transitions between spaces.
Before selecting materials or colours, we focused on clarity, removing distractions to resolve functionality and establish a framework that works seamlessly.
From this foundation, every subsequent choice gained purpose.
Designing for Ourselves
Designing our own space introduces a unique challenge. Without an external brief, we relied on our own expectations.
We adhered to the same rigorous standards we apply to all our projects: every element was considered, documented, tested, and resolved before construction began.
3D visualisation was instrumental in this process, enabling us to analyse every angle, transition, and lighting condition before stepping onto the site.
Nothing was left to chance. By eliminating guesswork, we fostered confidence—both in our process and the final outcome.
Light, Material, Atmosphere
Lighting emerged as a defining characteristic of this studio—not an afterthought, but a foundational element.
We examined:
• How light enters.
• How can it change the mood of a day
• How it transforms throughout the day.
It influences material perception, spatial ambience, and movement within the studio.
Materiality followed this same intentionality—restrained, thoughtful, and in harmony with the architecture. Each decision contributes to a calm and resolved environment. **Still in Progress**
We’ve settled in, and the studio is vibrant with activity, yet it’s still a work in progress.
While we are busy and have moved in, there’s still more joinery to complete, additional stone to install, and we’re eagerly waiting to order our exciting new Rimadesio door system.
There are layers to add and moments to refine—those subtle elements that require time and care. This is the essence of good design; it doesn’t emerge fully formed. It evolves. We have grand plans for this site that will develop over time.
A Collective Effort
This project is not a solitary endeavour. It’s a collaborative effort involving skilled trades, dedicated suppliers, and the many individuals who support our vision.
We will take the necessary time to acknowledge everyone involved because meaningful work is always a shared accomplishment.
What This Space Represents
This studio is more than just a workplace.
It reflects our process, serves as a hub for collaboration, and allows clients to engage with design beyond mere drawings and images.
It empowers us to elevate our beliefs, listen more intently, design with precision, and create spaces that genuinely enhance how people wish to live.
Design Life Better.
